Rippling Influence
This studio worked to bring an element of Panamanian culture into the rich community of North Knoxville by installing an artisan market and workshop space. By combining the cultural practices of the Guna Yala people with the long heritage of the Lonsdale community, we were able to learn about what makes them unique, and yet also how much they have in common at their core.
Rippling forms and organic design details, inspired by the mola making craft of historical Panama, bring this space to life and make for a unique experience when walking through. The Guna community paved their way through history—despite their small population—by planting seeds of tradition through the storytelling artistry of quilting.
