Intangible Evidence

Locro, the beloved South American stew, was named the national dish of Argentina following the end of their revolution and the beginning of their independence in 1816. Every year since then, large parties are hosted on May 25 and July 9 to celebrate their country. In a way, locro is a dish full of memories, from the celebrations of Argentine pride as well as the memories made from these gatherings held by friends, family, and strangers alike.

This client, a family of four, recently moved from Argentina to Knoxville, Tennessee. As both parents were born and raised in their home country, they wanted to raise their two young children as immersed in the culture as they could be. To create this environment, the family started their own business to serve Argentine cuisine, only a floor below their home. The atmosphere of their restaurant is representative of the colorful streets of Buenos Aires, while their home shares more similarities to the rural Pampas regions, known famously for their vast grasslands and stretching views.
