Re/Construct

For this 4th year Furniture Design class, in groups we were tasked to design and fabricate a four-part seating system that connects together with inspiration from a historical furniture leg style. My group researched the columnar leg and historical Greek and Roman columnar architecture, and designed a future iteration of what columnar furniture might look like.

These four stools were constructed with wood joinery and details, and used no screws in the final finished product. The pieces were cut out using a variety of tools, including the CNC router, bandsaw, and table saw. Our columnar concept was brought to life from initial research and digital design in Rhino 3d and all the way through to the fitting, sanding, and finishing of each seat.
